for-crown-and-coin
FOR CROWN AND COIN

A solo adventure card game full of monsters, mischief, and astonishingly questionable equipment choices.

Welcome, brave hero! Or unfortunate soul.

In For Crown and Coin, you embark on a wonderfully unpredictable solo journey where enemies lurk, companions bicker, and your items are probably both a blessing and a curse. This is no ordinary game; it is a 30-minute rollercoaster ride of "Why on earth did I choose this card?" and "Oh great, another boss."

How do you play?

Step 1: At the start of each run, draw five item cards from the double-sided item deck. That's right, double-sided. Twice as many opportunities for bad decisions! Choose carefully anyway, because you only get one side. Once you've made your choice, the other side is lost, along with any hope of an easy run.

Equip your gear (1 weapon, 1 armor, 1 companion, and 2 mysterious "equipment" slots, usually belts, for whatever reason), or place it in your "hand area," which isn't really a hand at all. It's simply an area on the table. You don't have to hold anything in your hand; this isn't a stage show, and no one needs to be impressed.

Step 2: Then the events begin. Each round, draw a new event card—be it an enemy, something helpful, or some nonsense you'll probably regret—and resolve it immediately. Survive five events, and a boss appears. It doesn't care about your feelings and always strikes first. Defeat it, and you receive a rare item as a reward.

That's also your only reward, aside from this creeping sense of impending doom.

Repeat Step 2 until you win or have had enough of this madness.

Expect poison, curses (you can only have one at a time, like a particularly picky witch's curse), and "Stun," which is ultimately just a fancier word for "standing around doing nothing for one round." When you run out of item cards, simply reshuffle the discard pile and start over.

What you need:

* 2W6 dice (not included)
* Possibly a pen and paper for those moments when your brain needs a little break

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0882/0539/4264/files/1_4797d277-8db1-49cd-852d-e72c600ddad1.png?v=1793227996
