Behold: Rome (Deluxe Edition)

Behold: Rome is a solo civilization-building card game played entirely in your hand. Store and spend resources to develop your civilization and build your engine. Conquer prosperous regions or abandon them to take your nation to the next level. Outsmart and outperform your chosen rival civilization to cement your place in history!

In Behold: Rome, you try to outscore your chosen rival civilization. Cards have 4 orientations, known as levels. Each card level is unique and carries its own scoring rule, often tied to specific conditions. Your goal is to align your deck for maximum points, evolve your nation card, and conquer the most prosperous regions by the end of round 12!

In each round, you play cards to perform actions. In doing so, you manage and invest two different types of resources: Material (mostly used to upgrade cards) and Population (mostly used to conquer regions). With conquest actions, you take control of regions, which strengthens your production engine. Sometimes, however, you may need to abandon regions to further evolve your nation or gain valuable tributaries.

Your nation card has 4 levels, each with a powerful, unique scoring ability. You start as a Monarchy, but can evolve into a Republic, an Empire, and even a Theocracy as the game progresses!

The Deluxe Version comes in a tuck box and includes additional cards that allow you to "save" your game between sessions. It also includes a card to help you track which third of the game you are in. You also receive a card with information on rival civilizations and the physical rulebooks in the box.
