When he turned around, Bastian noticed that the innkeeper was carrying not only a jug but also a letter.

"Before I forget again, he came for you, Bastian," murmured Daron.

"I think he's from somewhere in the East," he continued, slamming the mug down on the table.

The Vax seal told him who it came from, and a gnawing feeling in his gut told him what it was about. He didn't want to get involved, but he felt he had no choice.

Beyond the Rift: A Perdition's Mouth Card Game is a cooperative card game for 1-4 players that tells the events that take place after the heroes overcome Perdition's Mouth: Abyssal Rift.

Embark on an adventure in Zanziar, exploring branching paths across six campaigns, each focused on one of the game's heroes. Become a stoic warrior. Take on the role of a brave and impetuous magus. Tinker and craft as a dwarven engineer. Experience the pious ways of a zealous halfling priest. Duck under every bar like a true rogue. Harness the inner rage of a mighty berserker.

Using the Evolving Deck System, heroes acquire items that replace the cards in their original starting deck, building increasingly powerful decks with increasing synergies over the course of the campaign. On their journey through six campaigns, players will not only discover the wondrous world of Zanziar but also gain knowledge about the grim, dark past of its inhabitants and even the heroes themselves.

The base game includes six different heroes, each with their own unique 26-card deck and a special hero power. There are four campaigns in the box, each with its own branching path of multiple scenarios. Each scenario has its own objectives and special actions. Combined with a variety of different enemy types, this makes each scenario a unique experience.

Each hero has two basic resources at their disposal: action points and their hero deck. In their hero deck, players will find a variety of action cards that determine the actions the heroes can perform. Playing a card costs action points, which can be used to draw additional cards, manipulate the position of enemies, and activate special abilities. The key to survival in Beyond the Rift is managing your resources of cards and action points while dealing with the numerous threats.

Throughout the campaign, players will discover items that, when equipped, alter the composition of their hero deck. Most cards in each hero deck are associated with a specific body part. Whenever a hero equips an item with that specific body part, the 3-4 associated cards are removed from their deck and replaced with 3-4 cards associated with that item. This gives players more powerful cards while also allowing them to customize their deck to suit their playstyle and the challenges presented by different scenarios.
