Cry of the Stars

Dice, cards, cubes, and the void of space. Can you survive waves of encroaching enemies in this sci-fi battle and reach the jump point to get home?

You jolt awake, lifting your head from the control panel as the red flickering around you resolves itself into hundreds of blinking red status lights. And on the screen, where the jump point should be, a collection of enemy ships suddenly and menacingly appears.

The only way home is right through the middle. Lasers and kinetic missiles are on your side. Maybe you can make it.

Cry of the Stars is a solo mint-tin game about surviving a space battle.

Decide how to use your energy and material supplies to fight your way through – by rolling dice (either with a total higher than the enemy's shield value for a laser hit, or matching patterns for the targeting system to strike with a kinetic missile). Plunder destroyed ships to upgrade your own, and try to preserve your precious hull. After all, it's all that stands between you and the vacuum.

Defeated enemy ships yield loot. This loot can be crafted into kinetic missiles (roughly cobbled together, with a makeshift guidance system taped on) or used to upgrade your battery units (for more or stronger laser shots) or increase your shield strength.

Will you defeat the enemy ships and return safely to Earth?

Or will you fail, cast out into space, your ship destroyed, while in your final seconds you don't quite hear the silence: the static on the radio, the eternal signal of all those points of light around you – the Cry of the Stars.
