DOOM PILGRIM

Doom Pilgrim is a solo roguelike adventure in the form of 90 large cards with images on the front and text all over the back.

You are a fallen hero fighting through your miserable fate in a dark medieval open world full of deadly dangers and cruelty.

Game play

Each round, you draw three cards that represent your future. From the three cards, you choose, based only on the pictures, a path you reject, a path for the future, and a path you choose. The path you choose is then revealed—you turn the card over, read the story, make decisions based on the text, and note any changes, losses, or gains on your character sheet.

In this way, your destiny as a medieval pilgrim hero unfolds, and you attempt to survive the entire journey to the end of the deck of cards, the "Future" pile. There are battles, NPCs, equipment, and much more... just like in a gamebook (a very grim and dark one, full of strange encounters), but there are no dice rolls; everything depends on your decisions and the path you've taken previously. The next time you play, you might remember which picture conceals which type of event or battle, allowing you to choose your path more wisely based on your current equipment and fitness. But in the dark corners of this corrupt, godforsaken world, deadly dangers always lurk, eager to plunge you into ruin!
