Everything Lost is a themed solo game set in an apocalyptic world where you are the hero. One day, you wake up. As always, the first thing you do is open your curtains to look outside... and realize that this day is different. You are stunned. Everything is lost. Your city is destroyed. The streets are gone, rubble lies everywhere. Most of the buildings that are still standing look like skeletons. A few people are out there, stumbling aimlessly through the chaos, like... zombies. What's going on? What happened? How long have you been sleeping? You open your refrigerator. The smell! You quickly close it. You feel a cold draft. You look up. You notice that almost half of your roof is missing. You shiver. It's freezing cold. You feel a primal force haunting you. You realize that no one is there to help you. You have to take care of things. Danger lurks out there. Instinctively, you grab a tool from your toolbox and head outside.
A game of Everything Lost consists of four chapters. In each chapter, you choose one (of two or three) missions to play. Each mission begins in your house, the center of the city. You explore the four sectors surrounding your house. If you survive all four missions, you win.
Search for food, repair the roof, steal a bulldozer and ram a warehouse, rescue survivors from a shopping mall, eliminate a gang of outlaws, etc.
Next time, you can take a different path by choosing different missions. As the game progresses, you'll draw the city on your game board with your pencil. Your five white dice represent your energy. Use it wisely. Spending a lot of dice increases your chances, but you'll also quickly run out of dice. Then you'll have to rest to get them back. This is risky. The mob will grow, and events will force you to make difficult decisions. Break into buildings to find useful items and weapons, search the rubble, fight zombies, and search for survivors. Convince them to join your team.
Become more experienced and unlock new skills and actions. Eventually, you'll be able to craft new weapons, climb buildings, and attack the mob from above or ambush them. Who's the boss now? But only if you're a true survivor. Will you earn one of the four available nicknames? Good luck!
