Star Fighters: Rapid Fire combines the excitement of real-time dice rolling with tactical spaceship combat. Each player takes the controls of their own fighter and duels in aerial combat to prove who is the better pilot. The game can be played in various modes: 1 vs. 1, 3 players vs. all, 2 vs. 2, or in solo mode, where a single fighter attacks a space station in orbit.

During the real-time phase, all players simultaneously roll their command dice and assign them to the various functions of their starfighter. When a player has fully charged their systems and is ready to act, they can end the real-time phase by pressing the large red button and shouting "Fire!" This means that all players must stop rolling and assigning dice and proceed to the tactical phase.

During the tactical phase, players take turns activating the systems they have charged. This allows them to fire torpedoes or lasers at the enemy, maneuver on the map, adjust their shields, and perform other actions unique to their chosen starfighter.

Players must balance the pressure of real-time gameplay while making sound tactical and strategic decisions. The game only ends when one starfighter is destroyed. The pilot who delivers the final blow receives all the glory and is the winner.
