Tavern Tales is played over a variable number of rounds. In each round, players alternate as follows:
STEP 1: Stake your claim with your hero cards. Choose one of the locations in the game and determine what treasures you've found there or how many monsters you've defeated.
STEP 2: Argue with your companions. Other players can now challenge your claim with their Hero cards and try to claim the glory for themselves.
STEP 3: Turn your stories into legends. After some trumping and strategic bluffing, the ultimate winner of the claim is crowned. This player collects the disputed treasure or monster cards and receives points based on the number of identical cards previously collected. This collection principle motivates players to maintain the lead in one or more types of claim in order to prevail.
The game ends when one player has gained enough fame to become the most famous hero of epic legends!
